The number of US citizens who applied for benefits in the last week was 712 thousand people (775 thousand were expected) vs 787 thousand a week earlier. Just over 200,000 Americans applied for benefits every week before the crisis.
The total number of Americans receiving unemployment benefits was 5.520 million (expected 5.915 million) vs 6.089 million a week earlier. On the eve of the crisis 1.7 million people received benefits.
