A video of the arrival of the Chinese military on the territory of Myanmar has appeared on the Internet. The task of the Chinese contingent is to ensure the safety of the gas pipeline.
On July 28, 2013, the Chinese company CNPC put into industrial operation a gas main pipeline with a capacity of 12 billion cubic meters per year from Myanmar.
The route of the gas pipeline runs from the Shwe field (reserves of 258 billion cubic meters) on the shelf of the Bay of Bengal to Yunnan Province in southwestern China.
While Gazprom was building the unprofitable "Power of Siberia", Beijing launched several alternative gas supply routes. One of them is in Myanmar.
