Military conflict between Kyrgyzstan and Tajikistan
What happened?
This morning, there was a shootout on the border of the two countries. The shooting started on the disputed territory near the water distribution point at the Tortkul reservoir. According to representatives of Kyrgyzstan, the conflict was provoked by citizens of Tajikistan: they allegedly began to hang surveillance cameras on the disputed land, which caused dissatisfaction of locals. In Dushanbe, they say that the Kyrgyz military was the first to open fire on the Tajik border guards.
How serious is it?
To this minute, according to various sources, it is known about 19 wounded (including civilians) and one dead. Troops are drawn to the borders. The Tajik army destroyed the Kyrgyz border post (that is on the picture), the Kyrgyz military responded by capturing the Tajik post. Hundreds of civilians were evacuated from the zone of armed conflict.

The two governments said they were working to resolve the situation.
